Would you enjoy a new summer and autumn destination with exclusive places and charming landscapes exactly in the region where you pick up your accommodation by the sea? My first travel to Valencia this year brought me 2 weeks of wonderful landscapes both inside and outside town. I will travel you through some of the most beautiful places in Valencia and Peñíscola for your holiday.

Valencia is one of the most  vibrant cities on Spain’s southeastern coast and the charming  Peñíscola resort is your seaside’s magic  in the province of Castellón. This could be your home to some of the most beautiful places on the Mediterranean coast. Both of the destinations offer a mix of history, culture and stunning natural beauty that captivate visitors and transport them into a world of magic.

Valencia: a city of enchantment

Valencia is a city full of history and modernity. Its charm is coming from the stunning architecture and picturesque streets. One of the most magical places of Valencia is the City of Arts and Sciences – the futuristic complex designed by Santiago Calatrava and Félix Candela. The structures are surrounded by reflective pools and create an enchanting atmosphere, especially at night when the buildings are illuminated. Walking through this area feels like stepping into a science fiction fantasy.

If you want to go deep into a historical experience, Valencia Cathedral and its surrounding old town – El Carmen are must-visits. The Cathedral with its Gothic, Romanesque and Baroque elements is full of legends.

It is said to house the Holy Grail, making it a place of pilgrimage for many tourists. The cobblestone streets of El Carmen, lined with colorful buildings and ancient landmarks like the Torres de Serranos and Torres de Quart, transport visitors back in time.

For those seeking a seaside fairytale, the beaches outside Valencia offer golden sands and turquoise waters alongside charming promenades. Watching the sunset here feels like a scene straight out of a romantic novel.

Peñíscola – the castle by the sea

Peñíscola is a picturesque resort town, often referred to as the “Gibraltar of Valencia” because of its dramatic location on a rocky landscape that extends into the Mediterranean.

The castle is the symbol of the small resort near the sea, also known as the Papa Luna Castle.  This medieval fortress offers breathtaking panoramic views of the sea and of the surrounding town. Built in the 13th century, the castle’s robust stone walls and towers evoke images of knights, kings and mythical battles. The castle is also famous because of filming some of the scenes from Game of Thrones.

The old town Peñíscola has narrow, fairytale streets and white washed houses adorned with colorful flowers will captivate the visitor. As you walk through the streets you’ll discover hidden courtyards, quaint cafes and artisan shops selling local crafts.

The blend of history, culture and natural beauty creates an atmosphere that feels like stepping into a storybook.

The beaches of Peñíscola are also magical. The main beach, Playa Norte stretches for miles and offers soft sands and crystal-clear water. With the majestic castle in the background, it’s easy to imagine yourself sitting next to the sea.

Valencia and Peñíscola are perfect destinations for those seeking new adventures.

The town enchants has a blend of historical greatness and futuristic design, while Peñíscola captivates with the medieval charm and stunning coastal landscapes.
